Rain robbed more than five hours of play on the opening day of the three-day cricket match between New Zealand and the Board President XI, as the home side reached 23 for no loss at stumps here today.

Skipper Virender Sehwag, who elected to bat after winning the toss, was at the crease along with Akash Chopra, both having compiled nine each, when the umpires called it a day 44 mintues before the scheduled close after only 46 minutes of play.
