The Bhartiya Janata Party roped in its star orator Narendra Modi to campaign for the Delhi Assembly elections. Even Modi could not manage to stir Delhi voters. Only three out of the 12 constituencies where Modi campaigned were won by the BJP. Eight went to the Congress, while one was secured by an independent.
Tilak Nagar – BJP candidate O P Babbar won this constituency by 12,118 votes
Shakur Basti – BJP candidate Shyam Lal Garg won this constituency by 3995 votes.
Tri Nagar – BJP candidate Nand Kishore Garg lost to Congress’s Anil Bhardwaj by 1964 votes.
Krishna Nagar – BJP candidate Dr. Harsh Vardhan won this constituency but with a narrow margin of only 3000 votes.
Nangloi Jat – BJP candidate Raj Singh lost to Congress’s D. Bijendra Singh by 17,565 votes.
Madipur – BJP candidate Kailash Sankhla lost to Congress’s Mala Ram Gangwal by 15,532 votes.
Laxmi Nagar – BJP candidate Murari Singh Pawar lost this constituency to Congress’s Dr A K Walia by 27208 votes.
Vishwas Nagar – BJP candidate O P Sharma lost to Congress’s Naseeb Singh by 9633 votes.
Patparganj – BJP candidate Nakul Bhardwaj lost to Congress’s Anil Chaudhary by 661 votes.
Najafgarh – BJP candidate Rajesh Sharma lost this constituency to Independent candidate Bharat Singh
Matiala – BJP candidate Kamaljeet Sehrawat lost to Congress’s Sumesh Shokeen by 6629 votes.
Uttam Nagar – BJP candidate Pawan Sharma lost to Congress’s Mukesh Sharma by 7187 votes
Rahul gandhi Trilokpuri, Seemapuri
Rahul Gandhi campaigned in Trilokpuri and Seemapuri. In Trilokpuri, the Congress candidate Anjan Parcha lost to BJP’s Sunil Vaid by only 635 votes.
In Seemapuri, however, Congress candidate Veer Singh Dhingan won by 19268 votes.
Mayawati Trilokpuri, Badarpur, Sultanpur Majra
Mayawati campaigned in Trilokpuri, Sultanpur Majra and Badarpur. The BSP lost in both Trilokpuri and Sultanpur Majra but was able to win in Badarpur by 13,305 votes.
