The Bangalore-based Wipro Ltd has entered into an exclusive agreement with Kerala-based Chandrika Soaps for marketing their soap in select States. Earlier, there were rumours that Wipro may acquire Chandrika Soaps.

‘‘This agreement is in line with our strategy of leveraging our strengths to address newer segments,’’ Vineet Agrawal, president of Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting, said on Thursday. ‘‘We believe that this would align with our current strengths in markets like Andhra Pradesh, where the Santoor soap brand is the market leader with a market share of 17 per cent.’’

Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, a unit of Wipro Ltd, is present in the branded retail market of toilet soaps, hair care soaps, baby care products and lighting products.
