AMRITSAR, July 21: Many students were left in the lurch with the sudden decision of the Khalsa College to withdraw Master of Business Economics (MBE) course even after conducting the entrance test and the group discussion.

Many of the students who visited The Indian Express office here yesterday alleged that they were blatantly told by the college administration to take admission in MA Economics without giving any convincing reason for this.

Students alleged that the question papers of the Master of Business Economics entrance test were not legible, while questions were incorrect.

However, Principal of the Khalsa College, M. S. Dhillon, maintains that students scored very less marks, while the cut off percentage for the Master of Business Eonomics course was 80 per cent. Another reason he gave was that the university had not cleared the syllabus for MBE.

The university was also conducting the MBE course under the semester system “where as we were supposed to have annual system.” He said, “I have offered all students to join MA Economics and those who didn’t want to join could take their registration fee back”. However, most of the students allege that the college authorities had denied to refund the fee.

Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) H. S. Soch, said the syllabus was a small thing and that the matter could have been cleared anytime. He said “I think there is more to it than this .”

However, he said, he would be able to comment on the matter only after discussing it with the college authorities.
