Woman jumps into canal with kid

A 25-year-old woman jumped into Limbadia Canal in Gandhinagar along with her 8-year-old daughter on Monday. While the woman could not be rescued, the security guards at the canal managed to save the girl. She is now admitted at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital where her condition is said to be out of danger. The woman has been identified as Naina Solanki and her child as Jinhal. She was staying with her husband Sumit Solanki in Milan Park Society area.

According to the Daboda Police in Gandhianagar, the woman’s father, Babu Patel, a resident of Dehgam in Gandhinagar, has registered a complaint against Sumit Solanki, his parents Kanti Solanki and Lalita Solanki and her brother-in-law Mukesh Solanki, accusing them of harassing her for household work.

Sub-Inspector N P Gohil of Daboda police said investigations are on and the accused would be arrested by Tuesday morning.
