GURGAON, May 1: The police have registered a case of dowry death following the alleged poisoning of one Saroj by her husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law. According to the police, Saroj, a resident of Malerna in Faridabad got married to Vikram of Wazirabad, Gurgaon, on March 15 last year.

In his complaint to the police, Saroj’s father, Jaipal, has alleged that her in-laws used to harass her for not bringing sufficient dowry and that she was often beaten by her husband and in-laws. Jaipal had also raised the issue at a panchayat in Wazirabad.

A couple of months later, Vikram allegedly sent Saroj to her father’s house and asked her to come back only after arranging Rs 50,000. However, she returned to her in-laws house some days later.

Yesterday, Jaipal came to know that his daughter had been admitted to a local hospital. On reaching the hospital, he was told by Saroj that her husband and in-laws had beaten and poisoned her. Later, she died at the hospital.
