JALANDHAR, March 18: The newly elected SGPC president Jagir Kaur today said that she would attempt to provide women the right to perform “seva” at Darbar Sahib. She also warned that indiscipline would not be tolerated in the committee and enforcement of discipline would be given the top priority.

In an informal chat with the newspersons here this evening, Jagir Kaur said priority would also be accorded to bring about reforms in the gurdwaras and strict observance of “Sikh Rahat Maryada”.Bibi Jagir Kaur said the Chief Minster P.S. Badal had created a history by placing a woman at helms of affair of the SGPC. She said she would activate the work of “dharam prachar”, “gurbani prachar” and “amrit sanchar” (baptisation) and spread the education of the Sikh gurus.She said that at present her chief job was to prepare for the Khalsa tercentenary celebrations. The SGPC president ruled out her participation in the political affairs. When asked about the objections being raised by the pro-Tohra SGPC members regarding her election, Bibi Jagir Kaur said she had been elected unanimously as the SGPC president. She said the former SGPC president G.S. Tohra should refrain from making such statements.
