Hong Kong, December 13: Ian Woosnam, Constantino Rocca, Paul Lawrie and defending champion Patrick Sjoland are the star golfers here to participate in the Omega Hong Kong Open, which will be played at the Hong Kong Golf Course at Fanling from tomorrow.

That is if the weather let’s up. The course was closed for a while yesterday morning due to the incessant rain that has been falling since Monday night. This morning the Pro-Am competition was cancelled after an attempt at playing a couple of holes in the rain and cold conditions.

The event marks the conclusion of the 2000 season on the Asian PGA tour and it will also determine the winner of the Davidoff Order of Merit. While Yeh Wei-tze has maintained his lead, which he gained after winning the Malaysian Open, a co-sanctioned event between the European and Asian tour. He continued to lead the Order of Merit till the first week of November when England’s Simon Dyson took over after a second place finish at the Hero Honda Masters in Gurgaon.
