VADODARA, Sept 28: More than 200 representatives active in all the 75 watershed projects in the remote rural areas, were told of various technical and social aspects of water resources at a day-long workshop organised by the Panchayat department here on Friday.

The training workshop saw participation of village-level functionaries, who were imparted knowledge about various ways to improve the watershed projects, importance of water resources, their usefulness and upgradation.

The workshop, which was inaugurated by former deputy forest conservator R K Shama, also featured

educative lectures by a number of experts.

Former chief forest conservator M B Mehta, District Development Officer Anju Sharma and other senior officials, including Truptiben, Nagendrabhai Patel, P D Baria and G M Damor, also spoke on the occasion, according to an official statement issued here on Saturday.

Observing that water was being wasted in absence of watersheds in rural areas, speakers exhorted participants to spread awareness and information about the value of water as well as water harvesting among villagers.
