August 3: Long distance services of the Western Railway (WR) from Mumbai Central, which were thrown out of gear following heavy rains are expected to be normalised by late evening.

According WR sources, while north-bound trains leaving from Mumbai Central are expected to run as per schedule, most Mumbai-bound trains were delayed due to breaches between Godhra and Ratlam, and Nadiad and Gothan sections.

The Rajdhani Express was running late by 14 hours and was expected to reach Mumbai by 9 pm and the 2472 Jammutawi Express, and

9024 Ferozepur Express were running three hours late. With the restoration of Ahmedabad trunk route at 1.30 pm, the passenger train traffic on the Up and Down tracks was restored and most Gujarat and Delhi-bound trains leaving Mumbai Central are expected to run on time. However, further delays could be due to speed restrictions imposed between the affected sections at Godhra-Ratlam, and Nadiad-Gothan, sources said.

Flash floods led to the cancellation of 2951 Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, 2953 Mumbai-Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Express, 2955 Mumbai-Jaipur Express, 2961 Mumbai-Indore Avantika Express and 5064 Avadh Express.
