I have come across a news item which appeared in The Indian Express titled Jharkhand Police seek OK to file corruption, fraud charges against Chief Secretary. According to it, Amitabh Choudhary, IG, CID, has sought permission from the Additional DGP to file a case against me alleging that I have indulged in various acts of omissions and commissions during my posting at various places. The news item is based on the correspondence between IG (CID) and his immediate superior, the Additional DGP. Your correspondent could have access either to the IG (CID) or the concerned ADGP has given out details contained in the correspondence between the two to your correspondent. Even if your correspondent by his own efforts has obtained copies of these correspondences, he should have at least ascertained from the IG (CID) or the DGP whether the documents are authentic and contacted me to get my version. Your correspondent has done neither of the two.I would like to put the record straight by pointing out that the case before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Patna which your reporter refers to was dismissed by the CJM and the Bihar Government’s appeal against it was also turned down by the higher court. Therefore, there is no case pending against me in any Patna court. I am simultaneously moving the State Government for such action as may be deemed fit against Amitabh Choudhary for violation of conduct rules by making wild allegation against an officer holding the post of Chief Secretary of a state. Our correspondent replies: The document on which the report is based is authentic. Attempts were made to contact P P Sharma and a message was left with his personal secretary.
