CHANDIGARH, Jan 4: The Youth Congress has flayed the BJP-led Central Government for having failed to prevent the attacks on minorities while demanding the early dismissal of Gujarat government.

Addressing media persons here late last night, the All India Youth Congress president Manish Tiwari said that Vajpayee government at the Centre was unable to govern the country as it had failed to protect the life and property of the minorities. “This has proved that the Central Government was not fit to govern the country,” he added.

While seeking the dismissal of the Gujrat government, he demanded immediate imposition of President rule in the state.

The Youth Congress leader alleged that the RSS, the Bajrang Dal and the VHP were all responsible for the attacks and added that the “state-inspired terror on minorities reflected that nobody is safe in the country.” He further said that a two-day state level conference was being organised in January in Jammu. When asked if he was an aspirant for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat in the event of the mid-term poll, he replied in negative.

He said that being a disciplined soldier, he would bow to the wishes of party high command. “I will campaign in favour of party candidates in the forthcoming panchayat elections if the city party president desired so.” Presently, efforts are being made to revamp the party’s organisational set up at the gross-root level, Tiwari said.
