For generations of fashion buffs, it’s common knowledge that black and white are colours you must have in your wardrobe. But black and white together? Well, even if nothing in life is black and white, the combo is one of the hottest trends this season. Designer Tracy Reese had models on the runway sporting “moon manicures” — black nails with a strip of white near the cuticle; Alexander Mc Queen’s silk scarves had white skulls and polka dots. Back home, the trend has caught on, with Bollywood going for the combination en masse. “Black and white together give a streamlined look that suits any figure. Wear a sari in this combination or a kurta-churidar and you are ready for a formal do. In western wear too, it works beautifully,” says designer Muzaffar Ali. Time to do a wardrobe check?
