Younus death: Cops in custody till March 9

Four Crime Branch officials, arrested for their alleged complicity in the custodial death of Ghatkopar blast accused Khwaja Younus, have been remanded to police custody till March 9. Encounter specialist Inspector Praful Bhosale, Inspector Nitin Vhanmane, AI Hemant Desai and SI A. Khot were arrested on Saturday and have been booked for murder and for causing disappearance of evidence. While police alleged that Younus had escaped from custody, co-accused Abdul Mateen had alleged that he died of assault in jail. The CID told the court on Sunday that the accused had conspired and killed Younus. They added that someone else was taken to Ahmednagar and was shown as Younus. They said they needed the custody of the four to find out who that person was. —PTI
