CHANDIGARH, NOV 21: The Pro-Am competition marked a formal end to the Hero Golf Chandigarh Open at the Chandigarh Golf Course today. Each team comprising of three amateurs and one professional golfer, teed off at gun shot from their allotted holes to ensure that everyone could finish in time for the prize distribution function.

Yusuf Ali, and his team of Lt Col Gurdial Singh, GS Sandhu and SK Khaitan won the competition, and became richer by Rs. 12,000.

Mukesh Kumar’s team comprising of CSR Reddy, BS Thind and Jagdeep Chima were runners up while Chini Ali and his team of SS Sawhney, Sudhir Verma and KS Sibia finished second runners up.

Chini Ali’s team tied with Gast Ram and his three member team for the third position but on count back Gast Ram had 64 points on the back nine, while Chini Ali had 66, which was enough for them to bag the third prize.

Even though no prizes had been announced for a hole-in-one, Ali Sher and Harjinder Kang, were both rewarded for their achievements. Ali won the Hero EZ, a scooter and Harjinder was given the Hero Winner, a bike that 18 gears.

The best round of the day was brought in by Mukesh Kumar who carded a four-under-par, 68. On a day when most pro’s were relaxed after the tournament, Uttam Singh Mundy brought in the next good round, a 71.

The sponsors, Hero Honda, also took this opportunity to announce a hole-in-one trophy for club members.

The professionals will now move to Delhi, where they will compete in the Honda SIEL PGA Championship next week.
