At summit, Kaizen Institute pushes for adoption of ESG strategies in business

The 13th edition of Kaizen Congress India, by Kaizen institute kicked off on Thursday at Sheraton Grand Pune Bund Garden Hotel. This edition of two days aims at pushing towards adapting Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies in the business world. The summit will conclude April 19, with industry visits for broader exposure.

The Kaizen Institute plans to train organisations to adopt ESG practices to develop responsible business operations, efficiently identify cost wastage and increase investment opportunities.

As India targets its Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2030 to reduce the carbon intensity by 45 per cent, many businesses and investors are thinking in the same direction.

“Investors across the world are opting for businesses to invest which are more ESG oriented. So it is very crucial for businesses to pick up different strategies, transitioning from profit based model to environmentally sustainable business,” said Vinod Grover, managing director, South Asia and Africa, Kaizen Institute.

“A 2021 survey revealed that nearly 59 per cent consumers were paying premium subscription charges for products perceived as sustainable or socially responsible. With increasing demands of environment conscious consumers, businesses have to integrate sustainable solutions to their core strategies,” said Tejashree Joshi, Head of Environmental Sustainability at Godrej & Boyce Mfg.

The congregation witnessed presence of Vinod Grover, MD, South Asia and Africa Kaizen institute, Aditi Haider, south Asia region, global reporting initiative and Dr Suresh Kumar, vice president HR at Aurbindo Pharma.
