Arrangements made for Manipur repoll

Sources say repoll was necessary due to malfunctioning of electronic voting machines.

All arrangements have been completed for the repoll in five hill districts of Manipur tomorrow with security and polling personnel reaching at the 34 polling stations,election office sources said today.

About 28,076 voters would exercise their franchise at 34 polling stations stations in the hill districts of Ukhrul Churachandpur,Tamenglong,Senapati and Chandel.

The repoll was necessary due to malfunctioning of electronic voting machines and irregularities found during the assembly elections on January 28 last,the sources said.

The repoll would be held between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and electronic machines from interior parts of the hill areas would be brought to the district headquarters by helicopter.

Counting of votes for the assembly elections would be held on March 6 next,the sources said.
