Arora will have to vacate his Rajya Sabha seat. At a press conference, Kejriwal was asked whom the party will nominate in Arora’s place. “Many times I have been sent to the Rajya Sabha. I want to tell you I am not going to the Rajya Sabha. The political affairs committee of the party will decide whom to nominate,” he responded. Which constituencies went to bypolls and why? In Gujarat, the Visavadar seat went to the polls after sitting AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayani joined the ruling BJP and recorded 56.89% voter turnout. A bypoll was necessitated in Gujarat's Kadi after the death of BJP MLA Karshan Solanki and garnered 57.90% turnout. Kerala's Nilambur registered a 73.26% voter turnout in the bypoll that was triggered by the resignation of CPI(M)-backed Independent legislator P. V. Anvar. West Bengal recorded 69.85% voting percentage in the Kaliganj seat which went for bypolls after the death of TMC leader Nasiruddin Ahmed. Meanwhile, 51.33% voters turned up to vote in Punjab's Ludhiana West constituency, where bypolls were necessitated after AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi's death. Who were the candidates in fray? In Gujarat's Kadi, the BJP fielded Rajendra Chavda, and Congress picked Ramesh Chavda, a former MLA from the same seat. AAP nominated Jagdish Chavda. In Visavadar, the BJP fielded former Junagadh district president Kirit Patel against AAP’s Gopal Italia and Congress’s Nitin Ranpariya. The key contenders in West Bengal's Kaliganj were Congress candidate Kabil Uddin Sheikh, backed by the Left Front, TMC’s Alifa Ahmed, and BJP’s Ashish Ghosh. Meanwhile, the ruling LDF in Kerala picked M Swaraj for Nilambur bypolls, whereas Aryadan Shoukath (Congress-led UDF), TMC's P V Anvar, and Mohan George of the BJP-led NDA were the others in the fray. Ludhiana West bypoll saw a four-cornered battle among Sanjeev Arora from the AAP, Bharat Bhushan Ashu from Congress, Jiwan Gupta from the BJP and Parupkar Singh Ghumman from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
