Dubbing it as a 'complete failure',Congress condemned the 'Bharat Bandh' called by 13 non-NDA and non-UPA parties.

Dubbing it as a “complete failure”,Congress on Tuesday condemned the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by 13 non-NDA and non-UPA parties to protest against price rise, saying this showed their lack of concern for the people.

“We condemn such tactics, the sporadic violence and difficulty caused to people. This showed bankruptcy of their ideology and their lack of concern for the people whose cause they claim to represent,” party spokesperson,Jayanthi Natarajan, told reporters here.

She described the bandh as a “complete failure” in most parts of the country except where it was “sponsored by the state governments”

The spokesperson said important issues were not being discussed in Parliament and it was not allowed to run by the opposition parties.

“Their cause (on price rise) is spurious and based on incorrect assumptions,” she said, adding, rising prices need to be fought on all fronts and both the Central and state governments had a role in it.

She said the Central government has taken several steps but state governments are yet to act against hoarders and black marketers and are yet to tighten the Public Distribution System.
