Kerala Home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has alleged a section of Catholic bishops and Muslim organisations are trying for ‘political polarization’,proof of which was merger of Kerala Congress(J) with KC(M) and association of a section of Muslim outfits under Muslim League.
Speaking at a function here last night to celebrate the fourth anniversary of LDF government here,he said the merger of two Kerala Congress factions was a result of the initiative taken by Catholic Bishops to strengthen the position of kerala Congress in UDF.
The CPI(M) politburo member felt there was possibility of LDF continuing to rule in the coming years, taking into account the present trends.
He said restructuring of assembly constituencies had resulted in KC losing seven seats in South Kerala and gaining an equal number in Malabar. If Muslim League gets the seven seats, their strength will increase in UDF,and KC would lose its position,he said.
