With the elevation of Sushma Swaraj as the Leader of the Opposition, main opposition BJP is yet to make it clear where top Parliamentary party leader L K Advani will sit in the Lok Sabha.
With just a week left for the Budget session of Parliament to begin,BJP has not yet intimated Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar about the seating arrangement for the party’s top leaders.
Parliament sources, however, expect a communication from the party in the next few days.
“We have not received any request from the party and they may be sending a communication to the Speaker,” they said.
Usually, the first two seats in the opposition benches are occupied by the Deputy Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition.
This was some kind of convention being followed and there was no such rule, the sources said.
As of now,Swaraj, former BJP President Rajnath Singh and senior party leader Murli Manohar Joshi occupy the front row in the Lower House.
With Swaraj becoming the LOP,she is now occupying the office of Advani in Parliament allotted to him as LOP.
Advani has now moved to the chamber of Atal Bihari Vajpayee which was allotted to him as NDA Chairman.
Another senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde, who recently became Deputy leader of the party in the Lok Sabha, may also be moved to the front row.
