Demanding stern action against BJP's Pilibhit nominee Varun Gandhi for his inflammatory speeches, the Congress on Tuesday accused the BSP and BJP of having a tacit understanding. "The party condemns the statements given by Varun Gandhi and demands that stern action should be taken for making such inflammatory speeches which intend to incite communal passions," AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters in Lucknow. He said that it was surprising that despite an arrest warrant,Varun was allowed to move in an open jeep and take out a procession. "The BSP government allowed Varun to take out the procession, which is a clear indicator that it has a tacit understanding with the BJP," Singh alleged. "I myself had been the chief minister of a state for 10 years and I know that whenever there are possibilities of violence, every government makes an effort to avert it and in the process preventive arrests are made. In this case,no such action was taken by the government," he said.
