A Vadodara Congress municipal corporator, Chinnam Gandhi, has joined Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and shifted base to Andhra Pradesh. Gandhi said he decided to part ways with the Congress after the UPA carved Telangana out of his home state. Gandhi is known to be close to Jaganmohan. In November, he had said, “These are baseless rumours. I am not quitting the Congress nor moving out of Gujarat.” On Wednesday, Congress city president Narendra Ravat accepted Gandhi’s resignation. Gandhi said, “I have been extremely pained with the Centre’s decision to separate Telangana despite knowing it is not good for the people of Andhra Pradesh.”
