Cong should contest Maha assembly polls on its own: Deshmukh

Union Heavy Industries Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said that Congress should contest forthcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra on its own.

Continuing his stand as ‘personal view,’ Union Heavy Industries Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said in Nashik that Congress should contest forthcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra on its own.

Deshmukh was speaking to reporters after a civic felicitation to him here last night. However,he was quick to add that Congress high command will take a final decision on the issue. “My personal view is that Congress should contest Assembly polls on its own,” Deshmukh said.

When asked about RPI factions joinining hands with Third Front,including Ramdas Athawale,he said that RPI is Congress party’s old supporter and attempts are being made to divert Athawale’s mind for his come back in support of Congress.

MPCC chief Manikrao Thakare also accompanied Deshmukh on the occasion.

Earlier,Vilasrao performed bhoomi poojan of various development works,including library in the city’s ‘Hutatma Smarak’ at a cost of Rs one crore and others works at a cost of nine crore taken up with the funds of Maharaashstra Minister of State for Health Shobha Bachhav.

Later,he released third edition of Directory of Ambad Industrial Manufacturing Association (AIMA).
