Campaigning for the first time in Gujarat,Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said his party is for the poor and tribals, while BJP represents the rich and industrialists. "The BJP-led Gujarat Government has given financial assistance to Tata for its Nano car project, while they have not provided any aid to the tribals, farmers or poor people," ahul said at two public rallies. "We are not against development. But we will also not forget the poor, tribals and farmers," he said. "This BJP Government works for the rich and affluent businessmen, while the UPA Government looks after the welfare of poor and Dalits," he added. On the last day of campaigning for the April 30 polls,Rahul, without naming Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, targeted the BJP government, saying that the funds allocated by the Centre for the welfare of Gujarati people have not been used by the state Government. Speaking in the predominantly tribal areas of Bardoli and Dahod,he raised the issues concerning tribals. "The Central government scheme of Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has benefited the tribals the most. We have also given back possession of your land," he added.
