The BJP and TRS candidates for the coming bypolls in Telangana today got a shot in the arm with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) deciding to work for their victory.
“We have decided to send our representatives to the poll-bound districts. We have a responsibility to ensure the victory of those who quit their posts,” JAC convener M Kodandaram and other leaders told reporters here today.
The bypolls to 12 Assembly seats, which should be held before mid-August,have been necessitated as the sitting MLAs
— 10 from TRS,one each from BJP and TDP — quit their posts in support of separate Telangana demand. The TDP MLA,who had quit, has since joined the TRS.
The JAC,which comprises TRS and various people’s organisations, said it will work for the success of those who had resigned for the cause of Telangana.
