A day after it was put up, a hoarding welcoming former BJP national general secretary Sanjay Joshi, who is scheduled to attend a Swachh Bharat event in Lucknow on Wednesday, was on Monday found missing from outside the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh headquarters.
Uttar Pradesh BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai feigned ignorance about the placing or removal of any such hoarding and said the party workers are free to attend Joshi’s programme in ‘individual capacity’.
State BJP spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said: “We did not ask any one to put up hoardings or remove them. We do not keep watch on them”.
Pathak added: “He is our leader and was at the helm of affairs during the 2012 Assembly elections. Situations change and responsibilities also change. It is not necessary that a person who is not holding any post becomes redundant in the organisation,” Pathak claimed.
Joshi has earlier visited Lucknow to attend several programmes organised by social outfit Jagruk Matdata Manch, which is organising the upcoming Swachh Bharat event on Wednesday.
The hoardings, which have come up at several places in the city and also bear Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s picture, has triggered speculation regarding Joshi’s return to active politics.
Joshi, who was removed from his post after the 2012 UP Assembly elections, will take part in the cleanliness drives that will be organised at IT College Crossing and in a Dalit habitat in Daliganj area.
