Kerala: Vellappally Nateshan’s party not to form alliance with BJP

Prominent Hindu leader Vellappally Nateshan on Monday said his outfit Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam would not go for any alliance with BJP.

Prominent Hindu leader Vellappally Nateshan on Monday said his outfit Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam would not go for any alliance with BJP.

“We would not go for any deal with the BJP or other parties in the coming elections. We would not support BJP, which is not going to open account in Kerala in the coming Assembly elections. We are looking at a political platform beyond Congress, CPI (M) and BJP,’’ said Nateshan.

In the recent months, Nateshan had dropped enough hints that his SNDP Yogam was warming up towards the BJP. Last month, the influential leader of the backward Hindu had met BJP president Amit Shah in Delhi. Nateshan had then stated that his SNDP Yogam was willing to field its members as BJP candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Besides, he had held discussion with VHP leader Pravin Togadia and several other national Hindu leaders, highlighting the need for Hindu consolidation. On Sunday, union minister Sadhvi Niranjam Jyoti was the latest BJP leader from Delhi to call on Nateshan in Alappuzha.

Nateshan making overtures to BJP had caused a worry for CPI (M) in Kerala, which has Ezhava community as its main stay.
