As National Conference President Farooq Abdullah is likely to be inducted into the Union Cabinet next week, but,Congress leadership in Ladakh is opposing the decision and has asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi, not to reward NC president with a cabinet berth. Annoyed with the role NC played in Ladakh, the Congress leadership in cold desert region has termed National Conference as an untrustworthy coalition partner that has deceived Congress. We have strong reservations against Farooq Abdullahs induction into the Union cabinet, Rigzin Spalbar,District Congress president Ladakh said. We have already written letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, he said. In its letter to the Central and State high command, the Ladakh Congress unit has conveyed in detail how the National Conference betrayed Congress during the LoK Sabha polls in Ladakh. The Ladakh seat was won by independent candidate Ghulam Hassan Khan with a narrow margin. Khan had remained NC provincial president and his son is also the NC assembly member from Zanskar. Terming the National Conference an untrustworthy coalition partner, the Working Committee of the District Congress Committee Leh in its letter has said that National Conference never endorsed the candidature of the Congress from Ladakh. The letter also mentions that the NC has deceived its coalition partner by violating coalition norms and principles. For violation of coalition appropriate action against the National Conference should be taken, the letter said. In the letter District Congress Committee blamed that none of the district and state level NC leaders agreed to campaign in support of the Congress candidate P Namgyal. On one hand Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi campaigned in Anantnag in support of the NC candidate. But on the other hand NC leaders distanced themselves from campaigning in favour of the coalition candidate in Ladakh, the letter said. The letter further mentioned that due to such an untrustworthy and disloyal coalition partner like the National Conference in the state the future of Congress is looking bleak. The NC has already honoured Ghulam Hassan Khan,we know that NC will now honour all those who directly or indirectly supported him. The Congress working committee termed Khan as NC proxy candidate fielded to defeat Congress. It was a conspiracy plotted against the Congress by the National Conference along with the Ladakh Union Territory Front (LUTF), the letter said. The letter also ridiculed the homecoming statement given by NC president Farooq Abdullah when Ghulam Hassan Khan rejoined the NC. Khan had never left the National Conference, and if he had left the party the NC high command should have expelled him from the party rather than inviting him back to the Party, the letter said adding that Khan and LUTF candidate were financially supported by the National Conference for their campaigns. We have also learnt that despite all betrayals and unfaithful acts against the Congress party, the NC is being rewarded by giving berth in the Ministry at the Centre, the letter said.
