The CBI Special Court today remanded Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in 14 days judicial custody, dismissing his plea for bail. The CBIs petition for his custody for 14 days was also rejected and it will file a fresh plea tomorrow. Jagan Mohan will be lodged in Chanchalguda Jail till June 11. The CBI counsel argued that the Kadapa MP had not cooperated fully during interrogation. He sent huge amounts received as bribes abroad and re-routed them back to his business, the counsel said. The agency also stated that Rs 1,234 crore of largely illegal investments had been made in Jagan Mohans companies, that chargesheets had been filed against 24,and that they needed to confront him with revelations made by other accused. Jagan Mohans lawyer argued that the CBI had no case and had arrested the YSR Congress Party chief to keep him away from campaigning for coming by-elections. While Jagan Mohans mother started a hunger strike today, the YSR Congresss call for a shutdown drew only a lukewarm response.
