The Election Commission of India Wednesday conveyed displeasure over Assam’s Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmah’s inflammatory remarks in Tezpur during an election meeting. Sarmah during a rally in Panch Mile in Tezpur on March 29 had said “blood of Muslims flows through” water pipes in Gujarat and exhorted people to “pray during namaz” that a particular candidate wins from Tezpur so that “this type of killer could never be the PM of India”.
Following a complaint, Sarmah was issued a notice on April 18 to which he replied on April 21.
Stating that
