Risky take-off by aircraft carrying Rajnath Singh

BJP president Rajnath Singh's private aircraft had a 'risky' take-off for Ranchi from an unlit airstrip in Dumka on Monday night.

BJP president Rajnath Singh’s private aircraft had a ‘risky’ take-off for Ranchi from an unlit airstrip in Dumka last night,a Jharkhand official said on Tuesday.

As the pilot could not get the full view of the runway in the darkness, four jeeps parked along the runway turned their headlights on to enable the aircraft to take off,Dumka district BJP chief Bipin Agarwal said.

Terming the take-off as ‘risky’,Jharkhand Civil Aviation Secretary P K Jajoria said in Ranchi that he would look into the matter.

“Though it’s a private aircraft,we will look into it,” Jajoria said when asked whether it has violated civil aviation rules.

After addressing a public meeting in Godda on Monday,Singh drove to neighbouring Dumka to board the flight which took off at 5.55 pm — an hour late from the schedule.

Agarwal said former Chief Minister Arjun Munda,BJP’s state unit president Raghuvar Das and party MP Nishikant Dubey had accompanied Singh in the aircraft.

Claiming that the aircraft had the permission to take-off from the air traffic control,Dubey said the jeeps had to switch their lights on as there was insufficient light.
