Roy will be Rly minister,Didi hints at part rollback

Trinamool may not ask for a complete rollback of fare hike proposed in Rail Budget now.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee ensured today that her nominee,Minister of State for Shipping Mukul Roy,becomes the next Railway Minister. Roy would be sworn in tomorrow morning.

The Trinamool may not ask for a complete rollback of the fare hike proposed in the Rail Budget now but settle for a “partial rollback”,letting only the AC,upper class fares to be increased. “If there is our minister, there will be something,” Mamata said today. “In the Railways there is no travel for a distance of mere 1-2 km… If you count those 2 paisa per km,it will come to a good amount.”

Sources said there were reservations within the UPA about Roy and the matter came up at Mamata’s meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well today afternoon. But the Trinamool chief refused to relent. While the Trinamool camp was abuzz with other names, the party leadership rubbished such speculation.
