Sharad Yadav re-elected JD(U) national president

JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav was on Monday unanimously re-elected as national president of the party. Yadav was elected unopposed for the second time for a two-year term as there was no other nomination against him.

The decision was announced at the commencement of the party’s day-long national council meeting here. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,senior party leaders,including Ram Sundar Dass (MP),Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lallan’,Arun Srivastava and Javed Raza were present on the occasion.

In April 2006,the JD(U) leader,who is also the acting convenor of the NDA,was elected as the party’s national president for the first time after defeating senior party leader George Fernandes.

The election for the party president’s post was scheduled to be held last year but got delayed due to general and assembly elections held earlier this year.
