An SP leader was shot dead by three unidentified men in Firozabad city Sunday morning. Vinay Yadav, member of the SP Mazdoor Sabha’s state executive, was reading newspaper outside a shop in Jain Nagar locality when three bike-borne assailants opened indiscriminate fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Soon after, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav suspended Firozabad Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh along with two Inspectors of Firozabad (North) and Firozabad (South) police stations.
Following the murder, Vinay’s family members and some locals blocked the NH-2, and staged a sit-in with his body. The protesters attacked the policemen and pelted stones, leaving two constables and two inspectors injured.
