While the Congress may be crying foul over the VVIP treatment being accorded to Bibi Jagir Kaur in Kapurthala jail,today onwards the former minister will enjoy another privilege: a 32-inch LCD TV with a DTH antenna. The Bibi can watch her favourite programmes in peace as the jail authorities have ensured that her lodgings are at some distance from other inmates of the womens ward. Before the summer heat sets in,the ward will have an air-conditioner. Confirming that the LCD was installed in the womens ward housing the Bibi who was convicted for her daughters abduction and forced abortion a senior jail official defended the move saying all wards in new jails are to be provided TVs. Another of Kaurs daughters,Rajneet Kaur,and son-in-law Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh are almost constantly by her side,without any objection by the jail staff,while the Bibi talks freely to relatives and friends on a mobile. Kaur is also being allowed home-made food three times a day she mostly has fruits as well as mineral water. While the prison staff especially prepared food for her separate from the other inmates,said sources,the Bibi just had a small bite to taste it. Sources added that Kaur goes to the jail gurdwara every morning but the rest of her day is mostly spent in the visitors room. The flurry of visitors continues unabated,and today they included Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia,BJP Phagwara MLA Som Parkash,SAD Garhshankar MLA Surinder Singh Bhulerathan and Markfed Chairman Jarnail Singh Wahid.
