Yeddyurappa warns officials against corruption

K'tk CM B S Yeddyurappa said the govt would now respond to all investigations by the Lokayukta which has been armed with more powers to check graft cases.

Warning officials who allegedly indulged in corruption and misuse of power,Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said the government would now respond to all investigations by the Lokayukta which has been armed with more powers to check graft cases.

The government has empowered Lokayukta with more powers to streamline the administration and check corruption and misuse of power,he told a meeting here,adding officials should be careful and work with honesty,commitment and transparency.

The Assembly last week passed a Bill empowering the Lokayukta with suo moto powers to investigate corruption charges against officials upto the level of Chief Secretary.

The government would now respond to all investigations carried out by the Lokayukta,he said.

The chief minister directed the officials to implement government programmes without dereliction of duty,giving special thrust to quality of works.

Yeddyurappa said he would undertake a tour of all districts next month to review development works and ensure the government’s promises to the people were fulfilled.

A meeting would be convened in each district to seek guidance for action plans for all round development of the areas,the chief minister added.
