Singapore Chess Federation CEO Kevin Gog Wei Ming ha showered praise on new world champion Gukesh D and revealed what the 18-year-old loved the most during the World Chess Championship final against Ding Liren.

“I finally managed to catch a word with this young gentleman, and like the well brought up lad he is, he expressed his thanks to our team for organising the match,” wrote Kevin on X.

“Also highlighted that the refreshments in his rest room were grea,” he continued with a laughing emoji.

Singapore Chess Federation CEO Kevin Gog Wei Ming said Gukesh’s composed demeanour will help him reach even more peaks.

“Never mind the chess skills, @DGukesh represents his family, his country, and the chess world, really well with his sincerity, immaculate manners and composed demeanour.

“I am looking forward to see him reach even more peaks!”

Chess journalist and David Llada also revealed what wash Gukesh’s favourite snacks during the games.

“Rumor has it Guki ate up to five Ferrero Rocher chocolates per day,” he wrote on X.

“This was everyone’s favorite snack during the match, with large quantities also consumed in the media center.”

The Indian teenager Gukesh has became the youngest chess world champion on Thursday after beating the defending champion Ding Liren of China in the final match of their series in Singapore.

Gukesh secured 7.5 points against 6.5 of his Chinese rival in the contest, surpassing the achievement of Russia’s Garry Kasparov who won the title at the age of 22.
