WPL released playersDeepti Sharma and Meg Lanning were among the big names who were let go from their WPL franchises.

The five Women’s Premier League (WPL) teams announced their retained players list on Thursday, ahead of the mega auctions later this month. While some decided to retain their entire core, others opted to release several big names in a bid to rebuild their squad for the next cycle.

Here’s a full list of released players by franchises and the available Right to Match (RTM) cards for each side:

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians decided to retain their core in entirety, and while there were no glaring names in the released list, they did decide to let go of pedigreed international names such as Amelia Kerr and Chloe Tryon, opting to go with their full quota of three Indian retentions – Harmanpreet Kaur, Amanjot Kaur and G Kamalini.

With five players retained, the reigning champions cannot exercise their RTM option, and with a new coach at the helm, will look to build a strong squad at the auction.

Delhi Capitals

As with RCB, the biggest talking point about DC’s set of released players was their letting go of recent World Cup winners N Sree Charani, Radha Yadav and Arnudhati Reddy. The first of those players had a fine tournament, where she took 14 wickets in nine matches and emerged as one of the best young players in the competition.

The franchise also released their captain for the first three seasons – Meg Lanning – and it remains to be seen if they look to get her back at the auction.

List of released players: Meg Lanning, Sneha Deepthi, Alice Capsey, Arundhati Reddy, Jess Jonassen, Minnu Mani, N Charani, Shikha Pandey, Nandini Kashyap, Sarah Bryce, Taniyaa Bhatia and Radha Yadav.

Gujarat Giants

The Gujarat Giants endured a difficult first two seasons before making their maiden Playoffs cut in the 2025 WPL. The Adani Group-owned franchise opted to release all but two players – Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney – and will look to rebuild a stronger core as compared to previous seasons.

The Michael Klinger-coached side let go of international stars such as Laura Wolvaardt and Phoebe Litchfield and will perhaps look to use one of their three RTM cards on either or both of them. One of GG’s key drawbacks in the first three seasons was its Indian core and the absence of a big Indian batter or bowler, around whom they could build their squad.

They could focus on developing an improved Indian core at the auction to boost their chances of winning in the upcoming season.

List of released players: Bharti Fulmali, Laura Wolvaardt, Phoebe Litchfield, Priya Mishra, Dayalan Hemalatha, Harleen Deol, Sayali Satghare, Tanuja Kanwer, Shabnam Shakil, Mannat Kashyap, Meghna Singh, Kashvee Gautam, Deandra Dottin, Simran Shaikh, Danielle Gibson and Prakashika Naik.

UP Warriorz

The UP Warriorz may have endured two difficult seasons in the last few years, but whether it warranted them to release all but one player will remain a question mark until the auction starts.

The Abhishek Nayar-coached side let go of several established international names, such as Alyssa Healy, Sophie Ecclestone and Tahlia McGrath as well as experienced and young Indian names such as Deepti Sharma, Kiran Navgire and Kranti Gaud, to enter the auction with a near blank slate.

With four RTM cards in their hands, the Warriorz will perhaps look to get their overseas international core back at the auction and also invest in quality Indian talent in a bid to build a title-winning squad.

List of released players: Kiran Navgire, Vrinda Dinesh, Alyssa Healy, Georgia Voll, Deepti Sharma, Grace Harris, Poonam Khemnar, Sophie Ecclestone, Tahlia McGrath, Uma Chetry, Saima Thakor, Gouher Sultana, Anjali Sarvani, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Arushi Goel, Kranti Goud.
