Technology giant Adobe has unveiled a new family of generative AI models, Firefly focussed on the generation of texts and images. According to the company, Firefly will offer more precision, speed, power, and ease in content creation. It will let users of various experience levels create high-quality images and stunning text effects.
The company has launched the beta of the first Firefly model which is focussed on commercial use. It will be integrated directly into Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud, Document Cloud, and Adobe Express workflows.
“Generative AI is the next evolution of AI-driven creativity and productivity, transforming the conversation between creator and computer into something more natural, intuitive, and powerful,” said David Wadhwani, president of Digital Media Business, Adobe.
The US-based company has said that it is designing Firefly to give all creators superpowers to help them translate their imaginations. The tool lets users use their own words to generate content the way they conceptualize it. From images, texts, vectors, videos, and 3D to using creative elements such as colour gradients brushes, and video transformation, Firefly offers unmatched speed and ease.
Backed by generative AI, Firefly produces limitless variations and enables multiple changes most efficiently. Adobe said that it will integrate Firefly into its industry-leading tools and services and this will let users leverage the power of generative AI within their workflows.
“With Firefly, Adobe will bring generative AI-powered ‘creative ingredients’ directly into customers’ workflows, increasing productivity and creative expression for all creators from high-end creative professionals to the long tail of the creator economy,” added Wadhwani.
Through its beta process, Adobe will be engaging with the creative community and customers as the generative AI-backed tool evolves and begins integrating it into various applications. Adobe Express, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop will be among the first set of applications to benefit from Firefly.
According to Adobe, Firefly is made using multiple models that have been tailored to serve customers from various experience levels, skill sets, and technical backgrounds. It is the first model to be trained on Adobe Stock images and will focus on images and text effects.
Adobe Stock images are openly licensed content and public domain content where the copyright has expired and is focussed on generating content that is safe for commercial use. It contains millions of professional-grade, licensed images with the highest quality to ensure Firefly does not generate content based on other organizations or individual brands.
Adobe has said that the future Firefly models will leverage a wide range of assets, technology, and training data from Adobe and others. The company is also committed to countering potential harmful bias.
