Last month, Google unveiled the Pixel 9 series alongside several new AI features. This included Pixel Studio, enhanced Magic Eraser, and Gemini Live, the tech giant’s newest AI-powered feature that lets users have a natural conversation with Gemini.

Previously limited to those with a Gemini Advanced subscription, it looks like Google is rolling out Gemini Live to all Android users for free. According to a recent report by 9to5Google, the new functionality can be accessed by opening the Gemini app on your phone and tapping on the “new circular waveform with a sparkle icon in the bottom right corner” of the Gemini app or overlay.

When users tap on the icon, a fullscreen window with “Hold” and “End” buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen. The report also suggests that users can exit the fullscreen interface to continue using their phone while having a conversation with Gemini.

To stop Gemini Live, you can either tap on the notification or simply say “Stop”. When a conversation ends, Gemini will show you a textual transcript of the prompts. Also, like normal conversation, all of Gemini’s responses will appear in the history section that can also be used to restart the conversation.

It also brings 10 new voices that can also be used with Gemini. However, the new feature currently only works with devices whose language is set to English.

While Gemini Live is yet to support Gemini Extensions which gives the AI chatbot access to Gmail, YouTube Music and a handful of other Google services, the tech giant has said that the functionality will be added in the future.

When we checked our device, Gemini Live wasn’t available, indicating that Google might be slowly rolling out the new free functionality, so it might take some time to appear on your Android device.
