Microsoft is bringing its free AI-powered design tool – Designer to the Edge sidebar, which enables users to generate designs without opening a new tab or launching another app.

According to a recent blog post by Microsoft, users ‘can now create stunning visual designs with just a few clicks.’ The company says the Designer tool can be used to generate designs for various things like greeting cards, social media posts, illustrations for PowerPoint and even logos for businesses.

To give you a quick recap, Microsoft unveiled the DALL-E powered design tool baked into the Edge sidebar that lets you create designs from scratch and works the same way as AI-powered text-to-image models like Stable Diffusion.

The biggest advantage of integrating the Designer tool with the Edge sidebar is that users will now be able to generate custom designs for emails, post on Instagram and Facebook posts without relying on third party apps.

To find the new Designer tool, click on the ‘+’ icon that appears on the right side of your screen in the Edge sidebar and find the option named ‘Designer (Preview)’. Now, type in your query in the search box with keywords like theme or title of the event and the tool will automatically generate unique images backed by DALL-E.

Once generated, these designs can be easily saved on your machine and used for whatever you want to.

However, it is to be noted that the AI-powered design tool is still in preview and is available to those in the United States. Apart from the Designer tool, Microsoft also brought a couple of new features to Bing Chat on desktop, which includes the ability to organise tabs using keywords like ‘news’ or sorting them by topics and the ability to import password from other browsers.
