YouTube creators can now regain access to their hacked channels with the help of an AI chatbot. “The new support assistant will guide impacted users through re-securing their login and helping them recover their account as the very first step after it’s been hacked,” the video-sharing platform said in an announcement on Wednesday, August 21.
However, the AI assistant feature is only available in English at the moment. Additionally, only a few creators have access to “certain troubleshooting features” currently though YouTube says that it is looking to make the feature available to all users soon.

The platform said that eligible users can access the AI troubleshooting feature by going to YouTube Help Center. From there, users will be guided through “a series of questions about you and your channel to first secure your Google login and to undo any changes the hacker has made to your channel.”
In the past, users have often complained about the lack of support from YouTube in helping to restore their hacked accounts. Being able to contact YouTube representatives directly is an option limited to popular creators who are part of the platform’s partner programme, according to a report by The Verge. It remains to be seen whether an AI-powered chatbot will help users with smaller accounts resolve matters quickly.
