Sennheiser has announced successor to its legendary Orpheus headphones with a touch of modern looking design. The Orpheus, acclaimed as the best headphone in the world now combines innovative technology design with selected luxurious materials with quality craftsmanship. The Sennheiser Orpheus will cost around € 50,000 and will become a testimony to the fact that good things never come cheap. Sennheiser says its high-end headphones will be hand-crafted in Germany from next year onwards. “With the new Orpheus, we once again push the boundaries and show that we can repeatedly set new benchmarks in excellence and with that shape the future of the audio world,” said Daniel Sennheiser, CEO, Sennheiser. The Orpheus offers reproduction precision, exceptional spatiality and a frequency response that extends beyond the range of human hearing ability. The Orpheus is assembled from more than 6,000 components chosen meticulously. Sennheiser's audio specialist have used exclusive components like gold-vapourised ceramic electrodes and platinum-vapourised diaphragms to craft this one. The amplifier housing of Sennheiser Orpheus uses marble that comes from Carrara in Italy and bears resemblance to Michelangelo's sculptures.
