Epic Games Store, a third-party games marketplace, is currently installed on over 29 million smartphones. In a first, Epic Games Store is introducing up to 17 games by third-party developers, highlighting the friction that hampers user experience. While first-party titles like Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League Sideswipe have been available on the Store since its launch, it now hosts games such as Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee and Bloons TD 6, which will be available for free until February 20. Epic has also confirmed plans to introduce more titles each month. However, none of the 100 highest-grossing mobile game developers are currently available in the Games Store due to the Core Technology Fee, which Epic is willing to cover, and various restrictions imposed by Apple and Google. Installing the Epic Games Store on Android requires 15 steps, while on iPhones, it involves 12 steps, further hindering the platform's growth. Epic emphasizes its favourable terms and conditions for developers, offering an 88/12 revenue split on payments processed via the Store, compared to the industry-standard 70/30 cut. Currently, the Epic Games Store for iOS is limited to the EU region. Despite this, Epic claims that Apple has blocked over five million attempts to install the store, citing "Eligibility Requirements." Epic plans to expand its iOS Store to the UK and Japan by the end of this year, with potential launches in Brazil, Australia, South Korea, and the United States once favourable government policies are in place.
