A few months ago, Epic Games, the gaming studio behind the popular battle royale title Fortnite said it was working on a new digital storefront for Apple and Android devices. Now, the company has announced that the Epic Games Store is now available on Apple iPhones and Android devices. While the iOS version of the app is currently limited to those living in the European Union, the Android app is available worldwide.
In a press release, Epic Games said that the storefront requires users to download an APK, which can then be sideloaded. In case you are unaware, sideloading refers to the process of installing apps you haven’t downloaded from app stores like Google Play.
The newly launched Epic Games Store currently comprises three titles- Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe, which is also available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Here’s how to install Fall Guys and Fortnite on Android from the Epic Games Store.
Just like the PC and Mac version of the store, Epic says there will be exclusive games for iPhone and Android. Also, the gaming studio has plans to bring third-party games in the coming months. Here’s how to install the Epic Games Store on Android.
1. Click on this link and tap on the “Install on Android” button.
2. Doing so will open a new page where you will be asked if you want to download “FortniteInstaller-5.5.0.apk”.
3. Tap on the Download button, open the file and install the app.
4. Now, launch Epic Games Store and press the Install button for the game you want to play.
5. Once the game is downloaded, Android will ask you if you want Epic Games Store to be able to install unknown apps. Enable the toggle and your favourite game will be installed in a moment.
Keep in mind that playing Fortnite, Fall Guys or Rocket League Sideswipe requires you to have an Epic account, so you might have to sign up in case you haven’t created one yet.
