Google Play Store may be one of the biggest gaming app stores available on Android, but that isn’t stopping third party stores from competing. With app stores like TapTap and Aptoide already eating into Google’s app revenue stream, Fortnite and Fall Guys maker Epic Games is now planning to bring its free games program to mobile devices later this year. According to mobilegamer.biz, in a roundtable at the Unreal Fest, Epic Games general manager Steve Allison said that the company is planning to bring up to 50 games to the store by the end of the year, with Ark: Ultimate Mobile Edition being one of the first games coming soon. He also stated that Epic Games is yet to work on a “payment solution,” which may delay the process by a few months. In addition to third party games coming to Epic Games store, the company is also working on built-in social and party features like in-game chat and cross platform compatibility just like the PC versions, allowing players to team up and play with one another even if they are on different platforms. Epic Games also announced that it is working on “self-publishing” tools, allowing developers to make their games available on the store without needing any interaction with the company. Recently, Epic filed a second antitrust lawsuit against Google and Samsung, accusing the companies of stopping users from installing apps from third party stores. The lawsuit comes almost four years after the Epic Games had filed a similar antitrust against the internet giant.
