At the Gamescom Opening Night Live, gaming studios from all over the world showcased several upcoming video games –– Sid Meier’s Civilization 7, Marvel Rivals, Indiana Jones, and a few more surprises. From Borderlands 4 to Dune: Awakening, here are some of the major announcements from the event. Borderlands 4 The poor reception of the recently-launched Borderlands movie (review) did not deter the game developers from unveiling the next installment in the looter-shooter franchise. The Gamescom Opening Night Live began with the announcement of Borderlands 4. While the teaser trailer did not reveal anything about the story or the gameplay, it did reveal that the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime next year. Civilization VII Almost eight years after Civilization VI, Sid Meier finally gave us a glimpse of Civilization VII. While the official reveal trailer did not dive deep into the upcoming title’s new features, it did mention that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on February 11, 2025. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Unlike last year’s Modern Warfare 3 that missed out on single player campaign, it looks like Raven Software is working on a campaign mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. At the Opening Night Live, the developers shared a seven-minute-long trailer revealing the game will be set in the Cold War era. It is scheduled to be launched on October 25 and will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass. Dune: Awakening The popular science fiction novel-turned-movie Dune is also getting a video game. Last night, gaming studio Funcom gave us a first glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming game. Dubbed “Dune: Awakening”, the video game starts by letting players customise their prisoner and has to fight against nature, form alliances, join forces to create guilds, and make their way to the top. Dune: Awakening will be available on the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox X|S sometime early next year. Marvel Rivals Marvel Rivals, the upcoming free-to-play multiplayer shooting game that looks a lot like Overwatch 2 now has a launch date. In the official launch date trailer, the developers also showed us a glimpse of Captain America fighting against his once best-friend and comrade - Winter Soldier. The trailer also suggests that the first season of the game will involve Dr Doom. Marvel Rivals will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Seres X|S on December 6.
