Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, in its recent earnings call, confirmed to investors that "The Grand Theft Auto series exceeded our expectations, as momentum continues to build ahead of the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI in Fall 2025," squashing all the speculations regarding the possible delay in the development of the most anticipated video game in recent time. The studio has already confirmed that GTA VI will be coming in Fall 2025 to the latest generation of gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft - PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S, respectively. However, CEO Zelnick, in an interview with GamesIndustry.Biz, has hinted that the studio might not have any plans to include GTA VI in the Xbox Game Pass subscription, despite some of its previous games being available on various subscription services. According to Zelnick, "That doesn't make any sense to us, because economically speaking, we don't think consumers are prepared to pay for that," while acknowledging how including titles like Call of Duty does encourage more users to get a subscription. GTA VI is speculated to be one of the most expensive video games ever produced, and the studio has reportedly spent over a billion dollars making it. The development did take a hit when there was a massive breach by an 18-year-old boy. The first announcement trailer of GTA VI garnered a positive response for its high-fidelity graphics and storytelling. GTA VI is expected to retail at a premium, compared to other video games, and the studio is expected to port the same to PC after a while.
