Lenovo Legion Go, the pricier alternative to PC gaming handhelds like Steam Deck and ROG Ally may soon be getting a more affordable version. In the last few months, rumour was that Lenovo was working on the Legion Go Lite, but now it looks like the company is calling it the Legion Go S. The news comes from Windows Central, who managed to get their hands on realistic-looking renders of the device. As it turns out, the upcoming PC gaming handheld will be powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2G platform, which is toned-down version of the chipmaker's more powerful Z1 chips. As it turns out, Lenovo's upcoming may lose more than just performance, with the publication noting that the Legion Go S will be dropping a lot of the "bells and whistles." The company is apparently removing the detachable sticks, the rear kickstand and the buttons on the back. In the image above, you can see that the Legion Go S will be available in a white colourway. According to the publication, the AMD Z2G chip that powers the handheld consists of Zen3+ cores, which offer lesser performance than Z1-powered handheld PCs like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, which have Zen4 cores. It goes on to say that the less powerful APU will make the Legion Go S much cheaper compared to the Legion Go (review), which was launched with a price tag of $700. While the specifications of the device are still unknown, it looks like Lenovo might opt for a smaller display to keep the price down to somewhere between $399 to $449. However, the Legion Go S may have two USB-C ports like its more expensive counterpart, but Lenovo has moved both of them to the top. The render also suggests that the Xbox menu and view keys will now be placed at the top of the device. It is still not known when Lenovo will be launching the Legion Go S, so you might have to wait a while before it is available globally.
